Can you add on to a mobile home?

On April 6, 2010, in Uncategorized, by admin

My friend just bought a mobile home. A 32×80, 2007. It was a 5 bedroom but she turned it into a 3 bedroom, with 2 master suites; because of her mother lives with her and her husband. Now she found out she is pregnant with twins. Can you add onto a doublewide trailer? They just bought this home 8 months ago and cannot afford to buy another home.

Yes you can. The new construction will be standard stick built construction but the original construction will still be doublewide, fyi. You will need this info when you contact your insurance company.

I do believe so. She needs to contact a mobile home sales company. Probably where she bought it from.

YES!! I also live in a double wide that is now more house than mobile home! We’ve added on to ours 3 times. no special considerations required!! find a contractor you can work with& discuss IN DETAIL what you want to accomplish!! Good Luck! Hope this helps!!

Yes, if it’s on private property. No, not without permission if in a community. By the way, if it is in a community, the house can not be moved without extensive demo.
