Well, I’d think a nice, thick bag would be best. Like a Zip-Lock Freezer bag. I use those for food and they seem very sturdy. And if you get the air out of the bag, there won’t be any ice, since there won’t be any water vapor in the bag.

If you Google “hard drive freezing trick”, you’ll see a few web sites with better instructions.

how to frezee the the hardisk? can use a normal plastic? is this to prevent from the direct contact with water??after freeze quickly re-install it with ice still on or wait it to melt? does it can be done several time? tq in advance

Maybe I will – once I come up with a dead one. It’s just like this one, but bigger.

And for the freezing thing, well, basically, put it in a zip-top bag, squeeze out all the air you can, and freeze it from 4 to 24 hours. Quickly re-install it in the computer (or an external case) and get what you can from it. asap

What kind of screw driver did you use for the laptop to get the hard drive out? I tried a torx screw driver but that doesn’t work.. I need to know what kind of smaller screw driver did you use?
