The H-D Forty-Eight motorcycle

On February 6, 2010, in Uncategorized, by admin

Riding low with a slammed suspension and featuring the classic 2.1-gallon peanut tank, the Forty-Eight backs up its bulldog appearance with the performance of its blacked out and polished rubber-mounted Evolution 1200cc V-Twin engine. The low solo seat, under-mounted mirrors, side mount license plate, clean rear fender and tall and fat front tire emphasize the Forty-Eights focus on chiseled customization. Love it! the only thing I’d do is take the front fender off. Awesome.

Wow! A sportster with a fat bob front tire?? How original! …NOT. C’mon HD, nice try, but hipsters are WAY too smart for your usual “same ‘ol sh$t, repackaged” style. Nice effort though. Too bad you have no clue what “cool”is. Btw..”Rat bikes” are bikes done on the cheap…not $10.5k like this.

The 48 is my new favorite model from you guys yet! I love how the sportys are looking more like the custom bobbers and rat bikes, theyre almost like the bikes from the 60′s, something James Dean wouldve rode. Keep up the awesome work

now am giving sportsters a second thought :)

I love the idea where HD changes only one thing in a motorcycle and gives it a name :)

great bike…the tire are the most beautiful thing

    cheers from Saudi Arabia :)

oh look another bobber… *yawn* HD continues its hopeless campaign to get the ex-skate boarders money

  12. thomaskray says:

nice little bike. i hate the “under bar mirror” thing tho.

  13. deweypug says:

Boldest, nicest designed bike by Harley Davidson well, since ’48! Kudos to H-D!

  14. ChopperCrank says:

That’s a fat bike. Better looking bike than the Nightster IMHO.
I’d ride either LOL! Thank God we have a Motor Co. to bitch about. Keep the faith HD.

  15. swissalpschapter says:

    BELLISSIMA!!!

  16. 1PATRI0T says:

Love it… Now sell it for $3000.

  17. Krellhonk says:

Have a close look at 1:05 and 1:21 – there’s smoke pouring out of one of ‘em – looks like a blown engine.

It didn’t even make it through its own advert… now that’s just sad.

I think a lot of people have missed the idea behind HD. HD has been through this before and they came out on top. Someone talked about the 48 being pricy, has anyone seen the price of Hondas new Fury? What abou the price of other starter bikes?
Now, I think the 48 is a cool bike, I have a sporty and I love it. When the time is right, I will also buy a bigger bike for longer trips. The Sporty wasnt made for cross country rides.

I absolutely agree. If you want new clients, there is no better way than to capture them on the entry-level. AND you may even have the geezers cashing in on a second bike. Volume in the market vs. cash in the till? I wonder if Victory has any plans for targeting this facet of the Market?

  21. eccvinnie says:

I own a Heritage. My wife owned a 1200 Sportster. I used to ride that Sportster and enjoyed how that baby would lay into the turns. It was like flying. Then I jumped on my Heritage and tried the same thing. A whole lotta scrapin’ goin’ on! Sporties are flat fun. But I DO agree that I wouldn’t last for the long haul on one.

  22. mullyb27 says:

I guess it is a good bike for a beginner rider but as anyone knows you will want a bigger bike in about a week after riding this one.

  23. jordanepp says:

The way I see it, Harley got greedy with all the new mid-life crisis sales since the evo’s. Then they realized they wouldn’t be able to maintain these record numbers/market crashed so they dumped Buell and started marketing to well, me. Nightster, Iron 883, forty-eight. See original comment again and I’m sorry for the douche bag comment. What I meant was more the week end warriors. You don’t have to agree with me, that’s fine, It’s just one man’s opinion of where HD’s at. Let’s be friends.

  24. duanecoakes says:

    yeah,another sporty…..
don’t you think Japanese say: oh wow, another Intruder or Volusia or whatever they call them?
Some people just want to bitch about everything….

  25. duanecoakes says:

I’ve been riding harleys all my life, new and old,VERY old.I have a ’71 shovelhead now and love it. I don’t need a harley to prove I’m badass,I don’t even want to be badass.I’m not even saying Sportsters are chick bikes, because they are not.And the fact that Buell went belly up has to do with Buell, not H-D…..

  26. Freeline skates are such a blast to downhill on. Definatly get a pair!
