BIOS – (Basic Input/Output System) Often referred to as CMOS, the BIOS provides an interface for a computer’s hardware and software.

bias – Influence in an unfair way; “You are biasing my choice by telling me yours.”

I think he means BIOS, but I could be wrong.

@Bonzo429 Update. I purchased a new adapter and the laptop works fine now. I really appreciate this video. The only rough part to doing this fix for me was figuring out that there is a screw which is lives in the roof of the CD ROM housing.

Do you mean the bias? Hold them the key requiring then reset the bias to factory settings.

I have a A75 also. It was running fine until the power cable broke on me. I purchased a new one and when i connect it to the laptop it shows the power line light is green, the middle light is green, and it shows the battery charging light orange (charging the battery) As I turn on the laptop the middle light turns off within 3 minutes or less and eventually the power goes out completely. If the power light is green then shouldnt that mean that there is power running into the laptop? HELP!!!

I have a Toshiba Satellite A105 s2141. The first problem: It would just shut down after running 3-5 minutes. The second problem: After running for about one minute the screen starts FLICKERING, then the screen turns black. You can still see that windows in still running. When I restart the laptop, it starts properly, then it flickers and goes black again. I bought a new battery and flashed the BIOS. The problem wasn’t fixed. Any ideas?

I have a Toshiba Satellite A75-S2112 laptop. I need to re-set it back to original out-of-the-box settings. How do I do this? I tried the holding the “zero’ down while starting it up. That did nothing.

I did this fix, and it seemed to go smoothly, but I have 2 new problems. When I plugged in the adapter (which was working before the fix) I noticed a popping noise. I unplugged the adapter, and waited a few minutes, then I tried it again. Again, there was a popping noise. Then, the adapter started chirping. Dead adapter. I just bought a new adapter, which makes the same popping noise when I plug it into the jack. Any advice?

Think of it this way – the plug of the adapter is int the jack and had enough torque on the jack to break the solder joints – that means the metal contacts on the jack are being twisted out of line too – they just havent broken yet but will in time. For $3 to $8 for a jack it’s worth it to replace it. You can get away with it for now but you should plan on getting a new jack and replacing it in the near future.

  12. rhblakeman says:

It’s the type with the cable to the jack that plugs to the motherboard then, and the plastic case is broken? You glued the face of the jack to the inside of the case I suppose. Two things possible besides you leaving something off inside – wire inside the molded plug is broken internally or pin in jack is separated. You can take the battery out & connect – if nothing then one of the above, or go back through your machine a step at a time & make sure you have everything right including the plug.

perhaps you can help me then man i just need ur opinion. my jack was not broken or anything it only sunk in to the computer beacuse the thing that was holding it broke. i superglued it to a safe part (the wall of the laptop) then i reasembled my laptop… now it just wont turn on. i dont think i broke anything while doing this… wat could have caused this? do you think i just… reconnected some part incorrectly or something?

I Took My Laptop To A Place To Get It Fixed, It Had 3GB RAM, They Charged $200 To Get The Power Jack Fixed , And When They Were Done They Said I Only Had 1 GB RAM Now, I Said “Ok” And Took It Back Home. I Looked On “My Computer” And Only Saw 1GB RAM. I Was Wondering Why I Only Had 1GB Left So I Opened The RAM Place On My Laptop And Saw All My RAM There 1 GB Stick And 2GB Stick, It Turns Out They Put The 2GB Stick On Backward, I’m 14 And Even I Noticed That And I’m Not A Professional. WOW!

I just repaired my M-35x. I’ve never soldered before. All I did was solder over the 4 points on the back of the mother board. i used flux. It seems to be working fine. Do you think this will work for very long?

    thanks for your helping tips.

  20. rhblakeman says:

The processor and video processor in the A70/75 requires a lot of current. Also a clogged cooler fin (from the inside, both CPU and video processor) causes blockage making the heat stay high so the fan runs in full speed to cool it and eventually will do erratic shutdowns. Teardown and clean the cooler fins is the only way to correct this.

  21. rhblakeman says:

Geek Squad = stay away….most times they send the stuff like this off to Toshiba’s depot for issue repairs or warranty then charge you for doing it, or they make it so freaking high you’ll be eyeing the new on the shelf when it shouldnt cost more than $75 parts and labor to replace (not resolder) the jack. I do them for people all over the US on a ship-in/repair/ship-out for $50 flat.

  22. rhblakeman says:

Best to buy a new jack – go to foxpcpartsdotcom and order there, best jacks I’ve seen and nohaving to wait for mail from Hong Kong. If you go through all this to open it why do it half way then find the leg of the jack is cracked rather than just the solder. I do people’s repairs al the time for $50 labor and parts and always replace the jack.

  23. rhblakeman says:

Also on the A70/75 models if you clean some more of the varnish off the solder pads with the tip of a craft knife to make the solder area larger they won’t tend to have solder breaks as easy. They draw a lot of current (6.3 amps) through that jack and the solder points are too small for strength and electrical capacity. Clean before soldering the new jack in and after with isopropyl alcohol and always put on a new jack – reflow as some people swear by is a cop out. New jacks are like $5 anymore

  24. rhblakeman says:

Doesnt affect warranty? Baloney it’s called unauthorized repairs unless this place is a Toshiba ASP. I do have to say this is the first video on jack repair that was done right (other than the hundreds I’ve done). One thing to check on A70 and A75 and some of the blue P series before you shell out repair money is if Toshiba has an “issue alert: still in place to repair this outside warranty by depot or an ASP – free. Also the A7x is supposed to have a mylar insulator put in under the palm rest

  25. animielover2010 says:

its just the toshiba a70 models sucked alot of power because they were powerful laptops. after a while laptop batteries give up and dont charege and hold there chare for a while. also could be your problem is that ur always in high proformce mode which makes your computer run at maxiumum cpu speed and fans will be noisy
thefor can last like 35 mins in high mode and normal mode at the most 1 hour and on long battery life mode i get like 1 hour 45 mins

  26. Nolan says:

I repaired a power jack on an a75 and now my screen stays dark like the inverter or backlight isn’t working. I may have got it too hot. Has this ever happened to you and do you know what I might have damaged with too much heat in the components close to the power jack?

  27. Nice introduce! I recently have new choice to buying new laptop battery stuff.I have new laptop and I want laptop battery .
